Overview
The short version: EdgeLog does not collect your personal data. Your trades, capital, notes and settings stay on your phone. No accounts, no tracking, no ads, no data sold — ever.
EdgeLog ("the App", "we", "our") is a personal trade journaling application developed for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, where it is stored, and what rights you have as a user.
This policy is written in plain language to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the IT (Amendment) Act, 2008 — all of India.
By using EdgeLog, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the application.
Data We Collect
Data you provide
All data you enter into EdgeLog — trade entries, P&L figures, notes, strategy tags, grades, mood check-ins, psychology journal entries, capital amounts, and settings — is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
| Data type | Where stored | Shared with us? |
|---|---|---|
| Trades, P&L, grades | Device local storage | Never |
| Strategy tags & notes | Device local storage | Never |
| Capital & risk settings | Device local storage | Never |
| Psychology journal | Device local storage | Never |
| Chart screenshots | Device only, never uploaded | Never |
| App preferences & themes | Device local storage | Never |
| Cloud backup (Pro, opt-in) | Google servers (encrypted) | Optional |
Data collected automatically
EdgeLog collects anonymous crash reports via the Android system to help us identify and fix bugs. These reports contain:
- Device model and Android version (no serial number or IMEI)
- App version at time of crash
- Stack trace of the error (code location)
Crash reports do not contain any trade data, personal identifiers, or financial information.
Data we never collect
EdgeLog never collects:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any identifier
- Your PAN, Aadhaar, broker credentials or demat account details
- Location data or device contacts
- Camera, microphone, or file system access beyond what you explicitly share
- Advertising identifiers (no AAID tracking)
- Behavioural analytics or usage heatmaps
How We Use Data
Because we collect almost no data, our use is extremely limited:
- Crash reports are used only to identify software bugs and improve app stability. They are aggregated and anonymised.
- Subscription status is managed entirely by Google Play Billing. We receive only a token indicating whether you have an active Pro subscription — no payment details.
- Cloud backup data (Pro users who opt in) is stored encrypted on Google servers and is only ever used to restore your data to a new device at your explicit request.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, ML training, or any commercial purpose.
Data Storage & Security
All trade data is stored in Android SharedPreferences and the device's internal storage — both of which are protected by Android's application sandbox. Other apps cannot access EdgeLog's data without root access.
When you uninstall EdgeLog, all local data is automatically deleted by Android. There is no residual data on our servers unless you have enabled Pro cloud backup.
EdgeLog does not currently encrypt local storage at the application layer. Your trade data is protected by Android's built-in storage isolation. We recommend enabling device screen lock and encryption (standard on all modern Android devices) for additional security.
Pro Cloud Backup
EdgeLog Pro subscribers may optionally enable encrypted cloud backup. If you enable this feature:
- Your trade data is uploaded to secure Google Cloud servers tied to your Google account
- Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256)
- You may restore your backup to any device signed into the same Google account
- Chart screenshots are not included in cloud backup and remain on-device only
- You can delete your cloud backup at any time from Settings → Cloud Backup → Delete Backup
- If you cancel Pro, your cloud backup data is retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted
Cloud backup is disabled by default on all plans. It must be explicitly enabled by you.
Third-Party Services
| Service | Purpose | What they see |
|---|---|---|
| Google Play Billing | Subscription payments | Your Google account, payment details (never seen by us) |
| Google Cloud | Cloud backup (opt-in only) | Encrypted backup file |
| Android Crash Reporting | Bug identification | Anonymous crash report (no trade data) |
We do not integrate with any advertising networks, analytics SDKs (Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.), social media SDKs, or data brokers.
All third-party broker names mentioned in EdgeLog (Zerodha, Angel One, Groww, Upstox) are used solely for CSV import compatibility. EdgeLog has no data-sharing relationship with any broker.
Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023)
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), you have the following rights with respect to any personal data we process:

- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
- Right to Grievance Redressal: Lodge a complaint with our Grievance Officer

Since EdgeLog stores almost no personal data, exercising most of these rights is handled directly in-app:

- For crash report data (anonymous): contact our Grievance Officer
